My former business partner, Nancy Bardon, and I developed IVY ARM, our first product, in 1995 because we were never quite satisfied with the feel, quality, durability or price of the various practice veins on the market. We were both CRNI’s with more than 35 years of infusion experience between us. Venipuncture instruction figured heavily in our teaching program, which often involved as many as 35 students in a class. We noticed students becoming restless and bored while waiting their turn for the few practice devices that we could manage to budget for. Necessity is the mother of invention, so we put our creative talents together and came up with what we feel is the most affordable, durable and natural feeling IV practice device on the market, IVY ARM. Word spread throughout the vascular access education community and we found, much to our delight, that we had a product that was very much in demand.
Our next product was created as a result of a request by a company that was getting ready to launch a new peripheral IV catheter. They needed a compact single vein demonstration device for their sales reps. Again the creative juices flowed and IMA VEIN was born!
